INTRODUCTION TO PROMIS, ITEM RESPONSE THEORY, COMPUTER ADAPTIVE TESTING AND ASSESSMENT CENTER
A beginner workshop with NO FORMULAS! This workshop is for people who would like to gain a basic understanding of Item Response Theory (IRT) and Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT). The morning provides an introduction to the Patient-Reported Outcome Measurement Information System (PROMIS). Then, attendees will become familiar with basic IRT terminology, what it is, how it works, and how IRT compares to classical test theory. The fundamentals of CAT will be discussed. Attendees will also learn what is required to create and administer CAT. This workshop is appropriate for researchers with little knowledge or experience with IRT and/or CAT.
The afternoon provides hands-on training in using Assessment Center, a dynamic application that allows researchers to centralize research activities. It includes features that promote instrument development, study administration, data management, and storage of statistical analysis results. This workshop is a practical introduction to using Assessment Center to deliver PROMIS short forms and CATs and/or develop independent instruments for computer- based delivery. All features of Assessment Center will be demonstrated including selecting existing PROMIS measures, creating new measures, and setting up a study for online administration including the creation of online consent forms and exporting data.
